Precautionary approach to unusual COVID-19 case

We understand you may be concerned following the PathWest waiting room at Fremantle Hospital being listed as an exposure site (Healthy WA) today.

This is an unusual case and the risk of exposure is considered low.

WA Health is investigating a weak positive COVID-19 case who visited the PathWest waiting room on Monday 2 August between 1.00pm and 3.00pm.

Anyone who was in the PathWest waiting room during this time is considered a close contact and needs to get tested and isolate until they return a negative result.

We’d like to reassure you that Fremantle Hospital staff, patients and visitors are not considered to be close contacts.

There is no change to current visiting arrangements or patient appointments at Fremantle Hospital.

Please do not contact the hospital – we will share further information as it becomes available.

Remember – please do not visit any of our sites if you feel unwell and present to one of the COVID-19 clinics (Healthy WA) for testing if you have symptoms.
