Almost 12,000 Western Australians are diagnosed with cancer and around 4,000 lose their lives to the disease each year. Recent studies have estimated that 30–40 per cent of these cancers could have been prevented. This report, prepared after an online public consultation, focuses on seven cancers that have the biggest impact on the WA community. These cancers – bowel, breast, cervical, lung, oesophageal and stomach cancer, prostate cancer and melanoma – offer the greatest opportunity for prevention.
