Work with us

Rewarding employment opportunities in an inclusive environment that values work-life balance

Work with us

Delivering our vision of excellent health care, every time requires a diverse and inclusive health service staffed by skilled and dedicated people.

Working in partnership, the South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) workforce of more than 9,300 employees provides health care to an estimated population of 657,000 people living within Perth’s southern metropolitan region (PDF 2MB).

Through our hospital network and community based health care services, we offer our employees extensive opportunities to learn, grow and experience careers in both clinical and corporate roles.

Read about career opportunities available across SMHS and applying for a job with SMHS.

Diversity and inclusion

The SMHS community represents more than 25 per cent of Western Australia’s population, and the diversity of our community is reflected in the diversity of our workforce.

Dedicated to equity and inclusiveness, SMHS encourages Aboriginal people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds or LGBTI communities, and people with disability to work with us.

We encourage you, whatever your age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and family and carer responsibilities, to consider bringing your expertise to our workforce.

Pay and benefits

Benefits for SMHS employees vary based on the industrial agreement you are employed under, your employment contract, and providers’ terms and conditions, but can include:

  • competitive salary
